Millie has her first tooth! :) I noticed that her mood was a little bit off for the last week but it didn't occur to me that it could be teething. Anyway, I discovered the tooth when she bit my finger, ouch! It may be small but it's very sharp! And she's back to her happy self - talking, singing, bouncing. :) I can see her other teeth are getting ready to come through which means lots of new food for Millie.
I also bought a new baby carrier last week. I had a day out in Glasgow on Thursday (meeting a friend and doing some shopping) and it was a great way to take Millie out and about. She loves being close to me rather than in her stroller. As you can see from the picture there, she enjoys her carrier. It's a lot better than the pouch I've used in the past, more back support.
Yesterday, my mum and I took Millie to Linlithgow for a stroll around the loch. It's a really nice little town, looks quite "olde" with a castle just above the loch. We fed some birds and Millie had a play on the swings at the park.
I'm always surprised by how many parents these days treat their babies - like their going to break or something. I don't really like seeing babies all wrapped up in these prams so that they can barely move! I find it interesting that Millie is far more interactive than most babies her age and I think that's down to baby wearing.
I think I'd like to introduce baby slings to my shop at some point in the future. All the mothers in my husband's tribe carry their babies on their backs, sleep with them, and pass them about to other people, the babies there are more advanced in their development - they can sit up at four months, they are more social and I don't think I saw a baby cry during my visit!
Well, I haven't posted for a while and I actually have a good reason - I'm sick. I don't know what I'm sick with and neither does my doctor.
When I was in India in 2006, I suffered from some kind of sickness - I went off my food and I was sick a lot. I managed to lose 10kgs in two months. Of course, when I came back home I was pregnant and the doctors kept telling me it was nothing but morning sickness. I know this can't be true because I was suffering from this sickness for at least a month before I was pregnant. Try telling doctors that they're wrong!
Anyway, the sickness went away during my pregnancy and everything was fine up until three weeks ago.
I feel tired. I feel sick. I can only eat toast.
Yes, I'm just throwing a little pity-party here. Join me.
I started working on my shop design today. After looking around for a designer, I realized it would be cheaper for me to build my own website and update it myself. This will take up more time but it will do in the beginning. In the future I want to hire a designer to the backend because it's a lot of work to update each page with HTML and CSS!
This is the logo design that I'm going with at the moment. I was thinking of going ultra serious with the website but that just doesn't seem to fit with my character, I need something a bit more fun and colorful.
I'm really looking forward to opening the custom order section on my site. I really enjoy custom orders, getting that one piece of jewelry just right and seeing the customer's face light up when they see it, that's a good feeling. It's also more difficult to do than a regular item because I have to work with particular materials and specific guidelines. (^_^)
Well, back to work!
And I'm extremely happy about this baby walker because it was completely free. Yes, I'm cheap. A cheap bag lady. I found it lying at the side of the road just where the car was parked when I was out walking with my mum and grandpa the other day. What joy!
Is it just me or does she look like a little boy in this picture? Must be the trousers. (¬_¬)
I've been challenged to take my eating habits more seriously. Three reasons, (a) Millie is starting to eat solids and I want her to learn good eating habits, (b) I want to drop a dress size this year, and (c) I've been reading the book Japanese Women Don't Get Old or Fat by Naomi Moriyama.
I don't think that the type of food that I eat is bad - I do have a well-balanced diet of vegetables, fruits, rice, fish, and occasionally pork or beef. My eating habits, however, are not good! I often over-eat or skip a meal. I don't drink enough water. I snack before bedtime.
So, this book is making me think about what I'm eating, when I'm eating it and why I'm eating it. It's also making me more aware of what's in my food - are the ingredients fresh?
I like to cook. This morning, for example, I prepared breakfast for Danny and I - a slice of toast with a scraping of butter topped with salad leaves and a poached egg. It was a simple meal but delicious and very satisfying. And wasn't Danny pleased! (^_^)b As the saying goes, "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach." It was my first go at poached eggs, too. Heh!
Well, this is how I mean to go on - healthy eating!
